Catholic Action Group reply to BBC Sunday Programme Commentary Monday 7 March 2005 PDF Print The attached link is to the BBC's radio programme, the Sunday Programme - 6 March 2005, during which Catholic Action Group (C.A.G) were mentioned. You can listen to it if interested at their website http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/programmes/sunday/prog_details... In the interests of balance on this piece, so there are no misunderstandings, the following points should be noted: C.A.G is a mainstream Catholic group open to all practising Catholics who are obedient to the teaching Magisterium of the Catholic Church. C.A.G is not an Old Testament group, its marching orders come straight out of the Catechism of the Catholic Church promulgated in 1992. C.A.G is not a direct action group. This was also stated on the programme. C.A.G's policy is about defending and disseminating Catholic Truth. After our messages are delivered, we respect personal freewill. C.A.G is not affiliated to any other group, though we do support any group which tries to support the teaching Magisterium. C.A.G is 100% behind the teaching Magisterium of the Catholic Church with the Pope at its Head and all bishops in obedience to the Pope. Contrary to popular belief, Bishops only have teaching authority when they teach in line with the teaching Magisterium. Bishop McMahon of Brentwood is wrong if he believes it is okay for a Catholic Agency to condone the use of condoms as this is contrary to Catholic Church teaching . Church Documents - Humane Vitae (1968) and Veritatis Splendor (1993)refer, and to our knowledge have not been superceded? In fairness, we invite him to publicly quote one document of the teaching Magisterium in his defence, which allows the use of condoms to be condoned! CAFOD (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) have not since 24 September 2004, publicly stated that they reject ABC (Abstain, Be Faithful, Use a Condom) as their HIV/Aids prevention policy, a policy they openly endorsed back then. The respected Catholic Guild of Doctors has recently affirmed that ABC as a policy is flawed and morally wrong. (See Catholic Herald 4 March 05) According to the Tablet article (5/2/05), not all the English Bishops would approve the CAFOD position on ABC. All baptised Catholics are self-anointed to proclaim the Gospel and witness for the Truth. See Catechism of the Catholic Church Section 905. C.A.G has no opinions on dogma, it simply follows the doctrine approved by the teaching Magisterium. C.A.G is a passive, Christian, non-violent organisation whose only remit is to witness for Catholic Truth and be faithful to the Teaching Magisterium. It respects others may have different views as is their democratic right. It has no views of its own, it is merely a portal for Catholic Truth as defined by the documents of the teaching Magisterium of the Catholic Church. If the English Catholic Bishops will not, or are not, interested in dialogue on Catholic Truth, therein lies the problem and our reason for existing?
