London, UK— 17 April 2007— Algorithmic trading has entered the mainstream and financial institutions large and small are now adopting the practice. But are algorithms living up to the hype? Can they generate alpha? Or, is today’s market saturated? Are we experiencing algorithmic overkill?

To explore these issues, Dr. Giles Nelson, Director of Technology for Progress Software, will take part in a debate entitled ‘Algorithmic Overkill? Are Algorithms Really Living up to the Hype?’ at TradeTech Paris 2007 on Wednesday 25 April. The session, which begins at 5.15pm, will address a number of key issues that include: the future of algorithmic trading; the appropriateness of algorithms for anything other than low-touch trades; alpha-generating algorithms and the skill sets necessary to take full advantage of algorithmic trading. Progress Software is the provider of the Progress® Apama® platform, the leading algorithmic trading and CEP (Complex Event Processing) solution in the industry.

TradeTech Paris, 25 – 27 April 2007
