New Centre opens to help bring Software-as-a-Service applications to market quickly Thursday 26 April 2007 PDF Print Media contact: Mandy Hassall, Six Degrees Ltd 01628 480280 or email@example.com Saaspoint AppExchange Business Development Centre Established London; April 26, 2007: Saaspoint, the European software-as-a-service consultancy, which is dedicated to salesforce.com implementations, has established a new division which will help enterprise users and developers bring new software-as-a-service applications to market quickly. Saaspoint has set up a new AppExchange business development centre under the management of Andy Clark, former technical lead architect within Saaspoint Professional Services. “Salesforce.com has transformed the business of developing and marketing software with the introduction of the Apex development platform, combined with the AppExchange global market,” commented Clark. “With these tools you can now develop and distribute in weeks, software applications that previously would have taken months or years to develop and bring to market.” The Saaspoint AppExchange business development centre will advise software developers and enterprise users on how to develop their applications on the Apex platform as well as developing its own internal products. Andy Clark was the force behind two of the first products developed for the salesforce.com AppExchange: the Saaspoint Property CRM, a real estate application, and Saaspoint Timetrack CRM, an expenses and time tracking application. Clark is based in UK but the location of the new AppExchange business development centre is virtual. “Unlike traditional software development where you had islands of teams trying to work globally, the Apex platform is totally Internet based so the location of the team is irrelevant.” Clark, who was one of the first Saaspoint employees, has spent the last 15 years designing and developing a wide range of enterprise applications on traditional software platforms such as Java and Oracle. “Traditional software had two barriers: time to develop and then time and vast expense required to develop and implement the distribution strategy”, said Saaspoint chief executive Colm Mulcahy. “Apex axes development time, and eliminates platform support considerations. AppExchange then delivers an instant and global shop window. “We have established this new division because we see major global opportunities. No-one knows Salesforce as well as us. It is in our DNA.” Described by Forbes Magazine as the “iTunes of business software”, AppExchange is the world’s first online service for browsing, sharing, and installing on-demand business applications. Thousands of customers are using the AppExchange as an eBay-style marketplace to browse and find on-demand applications. More than 7,500 customers in 57 countries have installed over 20,000 applications over the past year. Apex is an on-demand platform for developing next generation business applications. Apex transforms traditional customisation and integration and enables a whole new generation of on-demand applications that go beyond CRM. More than 500 applications are now available on salesforce.com’s AppExchange. -Ends- About Saaspoint Saaspoint, established by some of the original founders of salesforce.com EMEA, is Europe’s largest specialist salesforce.com implementation consultancy.
