With the help of a major health club however, A Birmingham Hospice has decided to come up with something new. The John Taylor Hospice has joined up with their local David Lloyd and other local companies to make a SMASH in July at their first ever tennis event. Aimed at companies and individuals who, having got caught up in Wimbledon fever want to become more proficient themselves; The programme includes: - A morning with a professional tennis coach - A tournament in the afternoon with a Wimbledon judge overseeing the final - A fund-raising dinner and dance in the evening All profits will go to the League of Friends of the John Taylor Hospice which serves over 400,000 people in Birmingham, Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding area. Ray Woods, a spokesman for the League of Friends of the Hospice said, “The event follows on from Wimbledon, so we are expecting a lot of interest. This is a first for the Hospice and we believe will be a unique event. We only have 32 coaching places and it will be first come first SERVED (!) We are delighted with the help from our sponsors and also from David Lloyd Birmingham who together with event organisers Eventu8, have made this event possible.
