Fujitsu Electronic Devices in Europe Deploys SuccessFactors Performance Management Solution For Its Microelectronics Division Tuesday 8 May 2007 PDF Print Solution Maps Individual Competencies To Corporate Strategy For Highly Skilled Knowledge Workers Across Multiple European Countries London, UK – 8 May 2007 - SuccessFactors, Inc., the leader in on-demand performance and talent management solutions, today announced that Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) has deployed the SuccessFactors Performance Management solution across multiple European countries. The solution maps individual competencies to the company’s strategic goals in line with corporate strategy. Fujitsu is the world’s third largest IT services provider and Japan’s market leader. With more than 34,000 patents, Fujitsu has 155,000 employees and revenues in excess of US$40.6 billion. Fujitsu’s electronic devices group has a European organization (FME) that focuses on designing and selling semiconductors. The company deals directly with OEM customers in the automotive sector, as well as first and second tier customers, and a distribution channel across Europe. “We were previously using a paper-based manual system,” said Axel Tripkewitz, Senior Director, Human Resources, Fujitsu Microelectronis Europe. “However, we recently introduced a number of specific competencies with multiple levels within each competency that would have been extremely difficult to measure and administer manually. We employ highly skilled engineers, and it was critically important that we’re able to map specific competencies to individual employees.” Tripkewitz and his team undertook a market evaluation of Performance and Talent Management solutions, including its incumbent ERP supplier, SAP. After speaking with SuccessFactors and seeing a presentation and some test cases with its own data, FME adopted the SuccessFactors platform and went straight into a live session without the need for a pilot. “We were able to interactively modify processes in line with our specific requirements,” added Tripkewitz. “Our review system is tied into our financial year. Our new fiscal year began on 1 April 2006 and it was extremely important that our implementation moved ahead quickly. If it had been delayed we would have missed the window to coordinate with the financial year, and we would have lost an entire 12 month period. SuccessFactors ensured we got up and running quickly to meet our deadline. We were easily able to link SuccessFactors to our SAP systems and our HR data.” FME deployed SuccessFactors’ Performance Management, Goal Review, 360 Degree Review and Succession Management. The applications are now being used by everyone in the company across the UK, Germany, Italy and France. SuccessFactors Performance Management provides more than just an efficient way to create and deliver performance reviews for global organizations. It creates an individualized pathway for employees to receive meaningful feedback from managers that helps them grow and, in turn, creates the strongest, most efficient way to drive overall business performance. It's the best way to get the employee review process done fast - and becomes the foundation for a more engaged, productive workforce. “The system has completely eliminated paper, significantly accelerated time savings for both employees and management, and has provided us with a comprehensive performance management system with full analytics at our fingertips. Eighty to ninety percent of our workforce has an engineering background,” added Tripkewitz. “As a company with highly skilled knowledge workers, we’re now able to not only ensure we map those core competencies to the appropriate individuals, but we can now extract tangible information on how our employees contribute to the company’s overall strategy and performance. We’re also able to measure criteria for leadership as part of our scorecards and are totally open with visibility of everyone’s goals. It’s completely changed our ability to view the business.” About SuccessFactors SuccessFactors delivers performance and talent excellence, on demand.
