The first ever bespoke dog collar shop Tuesday 8 May 2007 PDF Print Holly&Lil has been called “the Jimmy Choo of dog collars.” Every collar is designed and handmade in England using sumptuous leathers to create startlingly original designs. The collars are in limited edition collections reflecting fashion colours and themes and, uniquely, Holly&Lil also offers a totally bespoke collar design service. Holly&Lil began as a webshop two years ago, set up by Elaine Jones & Sarah Wyndham Lewis. Their aim was to marry excellent design and functionality with traditional British luxury leather work, as a real alternative to the ‘blingy’ mass-produced products which dominated the designer pet world. From a kitchen table inception, Holly&Lil has grown rapidly and now sells all over the world. All Holly&Lil collars are tested in prototype by Holly and Lil (Sarah & Elaines own far-from-ladylike dogs) and then rated for durability. The collection includes designs in Cow skin, Harris Tweed and other materials which stand up to real wear and tear as well as those which are strictly ‘party wear’ such as the individually designed and hand sewn Sterling Silver Charm Collars. Alongside these, the studio will sell a carefully edited range of dog accessories and presents, chosen to reflect the same design values as Holly&Lil’s own products. Fun, funky…really well made and useable…. Now Opening a London Shop Now Holly&Lil is opening on Bermondsey Street – historically the street at the heart of London’s leather industry. This will be (as far as anyone knows) the world’s first ever bespoke dog collar shop. Customers can visit the studio to buy from stock or commission their own one-offs. There are many reasons why people want one-offs; their dog might have an unusual neck size or coat colour, they might want a collar in their own fabric, such as a Clan Tartan, or they might want to commission something outrageously, fabulously, special as a present for a friend. Prices start from around £50 for a handmade cow skin collar in glowing, jewel colours. Authentic Harris Tweed collars start from £47. Charm collars from £70. Matching leads and harnesses are also available. Increasingly too, Holly&Lil clients commission bespoke collars for dogs to wear to their owners’ special events, such as wedding, anniversary or Christmas parties. Brights and metallics are this summer’s hottest fashion stories and Holly&Lil, the Jimmy Choo of the dog world, is right on trend with its 2007 summer collection of jewel colour brocades. Handmade in England, using luxurious calf leathers, Holly&Lil’s wonderful collars are the new must have for all fashionable dog owners. Buy from the collections, or commission your own one-off colourway from the unique bespoke service. Prices for the summer brocades collection start from £50 for a collar. Matching leads and harnesses made to order. Holly&Lil Studio is at 103 Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3XB. Open from May 2007 on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays or by appointment at other times.
