The merger between two of the UK’s leading suppliers of intelligent electronic displays was formally announced at the recent ‘Sign UK’ exhibition, which took place earlier this month at the Birmingham NEC.

For many years these two market leading companies, Vision-Text Electronic Displays and Messagemaker Displays, have dominated the sales of LED, LCD and VFD signs in differing UK and Overseas market sectors.

The mutual respect for both quality and innovation led the senior management teams of both companies into merger talks, following a year of successful co-operation, during which, both companies successfully marketed each others products to their own informed customer base. Final agreement between Vision-Text and Messagemaker for a merger was concluded in March 2007.

This new amalgamation between, what is perceived as two of the UK’s leading suppliers of intelligent electronic LED displays, makes Vision-Text the largest UK manufacturer & distributor of intelligent electronic displays with forecast sales for 2007 exceeding £1.5M, thus securing the future of the two manufacturing sites in the West Midlands and on the South Coast

The new senior management team consists of Managing Director Harry Filer, formerly of Vision-Text, who will also assume responsibility for Sales and Chairman, Paul Bubb from Messagemaker, who will also take responsibility for Finance and Marketing. They are supported by a customer liaison team consisting of Michelle Filer, Jim Francis, Mike Le Grange, Andy Scott and Malcolm Hendy all of whom have an extensive knowledge of the electronic signs industry.

Managing director, Harry Filer, said “Both companies bring with them
different areas of expertise which by their union not only gives added depth to our technical knowledge but also significantly expands our product range”.

One of the major items to come out of the merger is the expansion of the former Messagemaker online shop, Harry continues, “In an ever growing world where everything is required yesterday, Vision-Text has stepped up to the mark by introducing a new range of Economy LED Signs that can be purchased online with a next working day delivery service. The shop which has thus far proved very successful for Messagemaker will continue and be added to, thereby giving a shop window to new products at affordable prices”.

Electronic displays have and continue to provide a quick reliable source of both information, instruction and direction for many industry sectors and are today more widely used than ever in manufacturing to display health and safety messages and monitor production times, also in hospitals, schools and other such institutions as wayfinding and for the dissemination of information. Vision-Text through its Messagemaker connection has a strong Telecom customer base that using the latest tri-colour surface mount LED displays, which when linked directly to a telephone system provides real time information for call centres.

Since the merger the new company has been pro-active in acquiring new business contracts in excess of £150,000. These are predominantly for the supply of RGB screens for use in Bingo Halls, LED displays for Cinemas, exchange rate boards for a leading high street chain of Travel Agents and the supply of ‘Bookie’ odds boards for the recent Gold Cup meeting at Cheltenham.
