Fun Football Fiction for Children - Get them reading! Monday 14 May 2007 PDF Print KIDSCAPISM – A NEW WAY TO READ WITH YOUR CHILDREN • Fun football fiction for primary-age children • Online daily stories, personalised to your child The kidscapism idea At kidscapsim we write stories for primary school children based around a group of friends who play football together. Currently near the top of their league, they have a chance of a trip to the Champions League final! They also spend a lot of time round at each others’ houses, laughing, joking and planning their next moves. Who’s in the team? The team are coached by the boisterous Mr Azalea, and are led by midfielder Freeman. His brother Will and the brainy Jaz also feature in midfield, and the goals are usually scored by the mysterious Alex, and the brilliant Michael. Clara and Hardy are normally in defence, with Josiane in goal. Daily, topical, lively Instalments of the stories are delivered by email on a daily (or every-other-day) basis, and can therefore be lively, topical and relevant. We can also personalise the stories to the children who receive them (if desired). A website supports the stories and provides a forum for discussion, plus access to web, audio and pictorial versions of the stories. Full subscribers to the service also have access to the full archive and short stories featuring the same characters. Encouraging Literacy There is a well-documented issue in primary education that children of late-primary age may be reluctant to read. Kidscapism aims to motivate children by offering a new and modern delivery format, daily and topical features, and stories which may feature them as a participant. We have some endorsement by literacy professionals in the field, and offer services to schools – reading stories and helping children write. Technical support The creative concept is backed by a strong technical base, to assure the tightest possible security standards are applied, and that (opt-in) email regulations are complied with. Future Future developments will include offering a junior story for younger children, and developing the seeing and listening aspects of the stories through pictures and high quality audio, with the characters voiced by actors.
