Organisation receives immediate payback from award-winning Web-filtering appliance

UK, 16 May 2007 - St. Bernard Software, Inc. (OTCBB: SBSW), a global provider of security and hosted office solutions for small and midsize businesses (SMBs), today announced that WDS Global, specialist provider of data services to many of the world’s best known handset manufacturers and mobile operators, has successfully deployed St. Bernard’s dedicated Internet-filtering appliance, iPrism™. The award-winning solution enables organisations to monitor and control online access, making the Web a more secure and productive environment for employees.

WDS Global is a pioneer in the field of specialist data service support for the mobile industry. The company’s 1,000 employees spend each day helping users, testing devices, solving problems, training people and publishing fixes. With an impressive list of blue chip clients, the company simply could not afford any network vulnerabilities, nor could any amount of productivity be sacrificed. WDS was in need of a Web-filtering solution to help address these concerns.

Mike Duncan, the company’s IT Consultant, explains: “Protecting against network vulnerabilities was our main challenge. We had been using a software-based product that resulted in a very high cost of ownership and continued susceptibility to Internet-based threats. We needed a complete Internet-filtering solution which could help us increase productivity during office hours and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). After researching various solutions on the market, we decided to invest in a Web-filtering appliance that would address these needs.”

With price and hardware failure redundancy high on the list of priorities, WDS Global’s search for a Web-filtering solution led them to St. Bernard’s iPrism. Mike Duncan was impressed with iPrism’s simple installation, and is now implementing the solution across all of the company’s sites. iPrism has already enabled the company’s management team to enforce a simple but effective Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for Internet access, which has greatly enhanced employee productivity. Each morning as staff log on to their PCs, they are automatically reminded that their Internet use is being monitored and that access to inappropriate Web sites is blocked. This includes access to Webmail services, historically one of the most common entry points for viruses. Deploying iPrism has enabled the company to control access to inappropriate Websites and Web services. This, combined with PC and server scanning, has allowed WDS Global to mitigate instances of viruses and network failures without impacting employee productivity. In addition, since iPrism was configured to block all Web mail, the organisation has not suffered one major Web-sourced outage.

Mike Duncan concludes: “Our payback with iPrism was almost immediate, and it’s now being rolled out across all of our offices worldwide. It’s a powerful and affordable product and the total cost of ownership is low. That said, it’s fundamental to our business security and uptime.”

"While SMBs don't have the resources to purchase enterprise security solutions, they too have a critical need to keep their data safe, email inboxes clean and electronic messaging archived," explains Terry Cave, vice president EMEA at St. Bernard Software. "WDS Global can now concentrate on growing its business, while we keep its key mobile clients
happy by eliminating viruses and ensuring the network is secure."
