Research shows that UK residents are now spending a record £32.2 billion on visits abroad1.

However, results from a new survey by Stugeron 15 travel sickness treatment, show that despite this increase in travel only 4% of Britain’s children enjoy family journeys and a huge 91% of parents would like to know how to improve journeys for their children and make the experience safer and more enjoyable for everyone (survey of 800 parents with children of ages between 5-12).

Keep children entertained on long journeys - simple car games like road bingo are a fun way of keeping kids busy without affecting the concentration of the driver. Moans and groans can be kept to a minimum by engaging with your children which will help to improve overall family dynamics

The holiday experience should start from the moment you leave home, not just when you arrive at your destination, so try to get excited about the journey before setting off and encourage your children to do the same

Take breaks whenever possible to break up long journeys and keep boredom at bay

Prevent family members from associating travel with previous negative experiences such as travel sickness - be prepared and take a motion sickness remedy before you leave
