London, UK – 29th May 2007 - Classroom management software developer, NetSupport, announce the worldwide release of NetSupport School 9.

For the last 12 years NetSupport School has been recognized as the leading Classroom instruction and Monitoring solution, allowing a Teacher to both view student screens within a classroom and present their screen live to the class. In recent years the inclusion of internet and application metering, testing tools and wireless capabilities have been provided in response to the changing shape of ICT classrooms.

Version 9 moves forward with a range of additional and innovative features designed to improve Student Monitoring, reduce operational costs and provide even greater security of both the students and their data.

NetSupport School becomes the first classroom management product of its kind to include classroom printer management and control as standard, delivering the tools needed to control printing costs on a class by class basis.

NetSupport School becomes the first classroom management product to include real-time keyboard monitoring. The focus of this powerful feature is to provide a view of coursework activity for all students when working within an approved application. Not only can a Teacher see that all students are using a word processing application, but also that on the required topic, they are identifying the key reference points in their work.

Continuing a common theme, NetSupport School also becomes the first classroom management product to include real time Instant Messenger monitoring. At a glance, a teacher can see if a student signs in, or starts a chat using a range of leading messenger applications and allows the teacher to end the session, for example where a student is providing details of a current test to other students outside of the classroom.

NetSupport School now features clear and simple endpoint security, again as standard. In a single click, a Teacher can prevent Students either accessing, or copying data to or from USB data devices or CD/DVD devices. In large shared classrooms a teacher can even enable or disable audio output across the class.

The latest version of NetSupport School now features an innovative and unique internet Safe Search feature, automatically applying search engine content filters to student systems irrespective of their personal settings. This feature supports the existing URL monitoring provided in NetSupport School and the use of approved and restricted site lists controlling which URLs students can visit. However, this has been extended to include the Teachers computer during a screen show, avoiding them accidentally visiting an inappropriate website while their screen is visible to the class.

With the level of new functionality included and the extended monitoring capabilities now available, a new Student Toolbar has been included, providing real time feedback on Teacher activity, monitoring status for each component, Printer availability and lists of applications and websites available for use.

Even the NetSupport Test Designer and player, recognized as the most powerful solution of its type has been updated with a new UI, easy drag and drop of resources and content, a new streamlined test player for the students and most exciting of all, a new online resource exchange is now available where teachers can share curriculum content, questions and exams. The new forum is available to all NetSupport School users and is provided without charge.

Last, but not least, Windows Vista support is now included as standard for both the Teacher and Student components and Wired and Wireless support has been further extended with the provision of a new student locater service for dispersed networks, again as standard.

NetSupport School version 9 represents the largest single update for the product since its inception in 1995, it adds new classroom management capabilities needed by teachers in an ever changing environment and further extends its key Instruction, Presenting and Testing tools.
