Georgia Foster is an expert on smoking behaviour and works with clients to reprogramme their unconscious mind so they can stop smoking. She runs two busy practices in London and works with a number of investment banks and insurance banks as their in-house hynotherapist.

Georgia's other Stop Smoking resources including her Stop Smoking CD, £19.99 plus p&p, and a new MP3 download at £10, both available from, while her private one-on-one Stop Smoking consultations at her London clinics cost £300 for two, one hour appointments including a self hypnosis CD.

The reason stopping smoking can be difficult to achieve is because the unconscious mind thinks that smoking is normal. It has become a learnt behaviour. There are two types of smokers:

This type of smoker simply smokes because it is 7am in the morning and they are having their cup of tea. They stagger their smoking with regularity with punctuating moments such as waiting for the train, getting off train and walking to walk, coffee breaks and so on. This type of smoker is easier to treat because they have not attached emotions to their smoking day but rather it breaks up their day.

This type of smoker uses cigarettes to help them cope with their lives. They panic if they don’t have any cigarettes in their pocket and worry when they have to go on a long flight about how they are going to cope without smoking. They use cigarettes as a friend who looks after them. When dealing with emotional smokers you need to respect that there will be a grieving process. Their mind has associated smoking with coping with stressful moments and is deemed the best resource to cope with challenging times such as anxiety, boredom and fear.

Hypnosis is a natural state that we all enter many times every day. It is the daydream state where we are half awake/half asleep. During this time the unconscious mind is more open to new learning. By carefully worded suggestions during this time, Georgia takes the client to moments that represent ‘not’ smoking now and into their future. By using examples of our lives where we used to smoke, she then rehearses how not to smoke and then match these moments with positive feelings of freedom, liberation and health and well-being. The mind then learns that this is the correct response and behaviour.
