11th July 2007 - When the threat of safety in travel was once again breached at Glasgow airport the industry held its breath to see how bookings would be affected. With stress levels and incidents at their highest travelling abroad has been likened by some as a lottery.

The fall out can be substantial and it’s not getting any better. The number of incidents and claims is rising and as always only the lawyers are winning.

A recent poll of travellers reveals the change in attitude and awareness when going abroad. 87% quoted safety and security as their first concern. But when asked what they would do if a problem occurred while abroad 80% said they had no idea.

Fisher’s Travel SOS which in the last 9 months has published a staggering 150 destination guides containing critical contact information remains a world exclusive product. When provided to travellers by travel agencies and companies, who regularly require staff to go abroad, it is their first and best defence to deal with a problem - first hand – using local and national services and people who can help.

Publisher Julian Fisher, “Unfortunately most companies are blasé about their duty to staff and customers when travelling and staying abroad. The reality is that they don’t appreciate the need to provide information which could in fact save lives. Insurance is not enough so only when it’s too late do we tend to read about some of the more tragic incidents. Thousands of other problems wreck holidays and business trips when most could have been saved.”

Fisher added, “Care is going to have to become a fundamental part of every ticket sold and every journey made. Customers may want the best price but they are now looking at the level of care being provided for both themselves and the environment. Companies who don’t provide any will lose out.”

Fisher’s is an almost entirely green company and product, contracting professionals who in the most part work from home collating and verifying information within their country and usually on local destinations. Produced to order and delivered electronically or as a booklet no stock is held, resulting in zero wastage, and ensuring that all the information printed is as up to date as possible.
