LINDY Dual Drawer KVM is Compact Design for Network Administrators Thursday 12 July 2007 PDF Print LINDY launches KVM terminal with built-in 8 port KVM switch Stockton-on-Tees, UK (12th July 2007) – LINDY Electronics announced today its new KVM terminal with built-in 8 port KVM switch, which is encased in a dual rail drawer design that enables the user to close and lock the cabinet door, whilst still leaving the LCD display visible. The 1U rack mounted design provides a compact all-in-one solution for local control of multiple servers. The terminal features a high-quality 17” Active Matrix TFT LCD display that supports resolutions of up to 1280 x 1024, a notebook style keypad and a touchpad for mouse control. The complete drawer can be slid in and out of a 19” rack, while the LCD screen can be slid out separately from the keyboard and flipped up in front of the rack. This allows for ease of use and security by enabling the keyboard to be slid out of the way and the cabinet door closed whilst still allowing the network administrator to view the screen. “Rack space is one of the banes of a network administrator’s life,” comments Andrew Ingram, Product Manager of LINDY Electronics. “Most terminal displays flip down to allow easy storage, but what happens when you still want to monitor applications or processes, since most administrators daren’t leave the keyboard available to accidental or malicious abuse? We’ve designed our KVM terminal to give the best of both worlds and yet still only take up 1U of space.” The on-board KVM switch enables the user to easily control multiple computers using hotkey switching or on-screen display. The switch can control up to eight directly attached PCs or can be cascaded using additional LINDY P-Series KVM Switches, allowing up to one hundred and twenty PCs to be connected without any loss in ports. Hot-plug support enables PCs to be added or removed without the need to power down the KVM switch or PCs and an auto scan mode enables the user to easily monitor the attached PCs, with an adjustable scan rate from 5 to 99 seconds. The LINDY KVM Terminal with Built-in 8 Port KVM Switch, part no 21553 is available now, RRP £1225.00. A version with a 16 Port KVM Switch, part no 21563 is also available, RRP £1329.00.
