It is the dawn of an exciting new era for The Music Directory demo competition winners, Daybreak, as they sign a deal with End of The Trail Records.

The Nottingham based 4-piece band agreed an initial one-album deal and a tour in September with the indie label.

Daybreak, as featured on The Music Directory website, describe their sound as punk / funk / hip-hop / rock and were delighted when the opportunity arose to advance their music careers. Bass guitarist Paul Flowers said, “It was really unexpected, we had only been with our new drummer two months when we entered the battle of the bands competition.”

The band has a web page on The Music Directory, an online resource dedicated to supporting people into the music industry. In addition to winning the third demo competition on the website, they have utilised the demo review services to improve their tracks and regularly keep in touch with The Music Directory staff.

Sam Borrett, Directory of The Music Directory, spoke about this latest success. “It's great news for the Daybreak lads and shows their hard work and commitment is paying off. They are one of our most active users and we've enjoyed working with them”.

“The whole ethos of our organisation is around helping bands and artists develop and to provide opportunities to find work in the music industry whether it's as a performer or behind the scenes, so when we see the processes work like this we're all happy”.

The Music Directory recently launched an e-zine featuring industry guides, auditions and jobs, which they describe as 'everything you need from a music magazine, without the papercuts'.

Daybreak plan to release their first single in September and you can keep up to date with their news at

About The Music Directory

The Music Directory is a not-for-profit organisation. It was launched in February 2006 with the E-zine launched in February 2007. We have over 2,000 registered users, music businesses and bands using the website.

We are currently holding the final demo competition on the site for a place in the Music Directory showcase, later this year. The competition is accepting entries until 31st July 2007.

We believe that despite the number of people using sites such as MySpace, there aren’t really good links into the industry available through this type of web business. Our focus is about promoting opportunities to break into the industry as a performer or ‘behind the scenes’, while providing a platform for bands and artists to promote themselves as well.
