Leading global bank to use Aperture Vista to visually manage its data centres worldwide

London, UK – 23rd July, 2007 - Aperture Technologies, Inc., the leading global provider of software for managing the physical infrastructure of data centres, has been selected by HSBC Holdings plc to provide its enterprise software solution Aperture VISTA 500. This software will be used to enable better capacity planning and management of the HSBC data centre operations worldwide.

Aperture VISTA 500 enables organisations to visually manage the complex physical environment of the data centre. VISTA is designed to help organisations with their capacity planning and utilisation. For example, organisations can see all infrastructure variables at a glance, including space, power, cooling, network, and storage, to keep the data centre at peak efficiency.

HSBC has 22 data centres in 10 countries, supporting 312,000 staff and 125 million customers. Implementation of VISTA 500 will begin this year and is expected to be complete worldwide by 2009.

Edward Case, a Senior Business Consultant with the Global Data Centre Services organisation at HSBC, said: “Having accurate, consistent and readily available knowledge of your data centre inventory and what you have running where, together with your power, cooling and space capacity is not easy to achieve. VISTA will provide a central repository, so we can see this information both on a data centre basis and globally. VISTA will also bring consistency to our processes for managing data centres. For anyone who needs to understand what is consuming resources in the data centre, VISTA is an important tool.”

William T Clifford, CEO of Aperture, said: “The physical infrastructure of the data centre is becoming increasingly complex. For organisations that want to keep centres running at peak efficiency, who have centres nearing capacity or who are embarking on data centre build projects, it is essential that they understand their resource use today. Aperture VISTA provides companies like HSBC with the visibility they need to ensure that critical data centres perform to the high standards that the business demands.”
