Amsterdam, 02 August 2007: TelecityRedbus, a pan-European operator of network independent data centres, today announced it plans to begin construction of a new data centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The new data centre is to be launched in two phases with each phase providing approximately 2000 square metres of net customer space. Total customer power will be up to 8 megawatts (MW) with overall data centre power to be approximately 15 MW. The first phase of the facility is expected to be ready for customers in the second quarter of 2008, with construction of the second phase expected to begin no later than 2009.

TelecityRedbus is currently awaiting final planning permission for both phases of the site which is expected in the second half of 2007.

Following the announcement in June of a new data centre currently under construction in London, Amsterdam 4 will, on completion, be TelecityRedbus’ twentieth data centre in Europe.

Mike Tobin, CEO of TelecityRedbus, states: “Corporate customers are increasingly seeking large and resilient data centres to provide primary hosting, business continuity and disaster recovery services. Market trends such as the growth in internet traffic and the evolving needs of business have resulted in growing numbers of new customers and increasing requirements from existing customers, both of which are driving the increase in demand for high-quality data centres.

“Our investment in this new site follows the recent announcement of our plans to construct a new data centre in London and further demonstrates our commitment to providing our customers with the highly secure space, facilities, services and connected environment they require.”
