To commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Elvis’s death, De Agostini is launching Elvis: The Official Collector’s Edition on 15 August 2007. The Collection is a specialty magazine series devoted to the King of Rock ‘N’ ’Roll, developed in association with Elvis Presley Enterprises (EPE).

Elvis: The Official Collector’s Edition is the ultimate must-have for all Elvis fans. Each week, the magazine offers insight into the King’s life, from his humble beginnings through to his phenomenal career, his marriage to Priscilla Beaulieu and his untimely death. It offers fans the unique opportunity to build a treasure chest of exclusive artefacts, spanning every stage of the King’s life, including his birth certificate, school reports, love letters and family photographs, mini posters and DVDs.

Issue one of Elvis: The Official Collector’s Edition contains the exclusive Elvis Collection Box, replicas of five original personal documents comprising: Elvis’s birth certificate, school report, a love letter, an Elvis Presley Fan Club membership card and a family portrait of the Presley family, plus a mini-poster of Elvis and his show at the Pacific War Memorial Commission reproduced from the 1961 original. The accompanying magazine includes in-depth features on his eponymous breakthrough album, his secret visit to the White House for a private meeting with President Nixon, and the spectacular ’68 Special where Elvis re-launched his stage career.

Issue two comes in a choice of two formats with or without a DVD. The DVD featured, ‘Viva Las Vegas’ is widely regarded as Elvis’s best film, the 1964 romantic musical is set around the first Las Vegas Grand Prix and co-stars Ann-Margret as his love interest.

Both versions come with the weekly magazine, a mini-poster for Elvis’s gig at the 1957 Mississippi-Alabama Fair and Dairy Show and replicas of Elvis’s first contract with his manager Tom Parker, a souvenir menu from one of Elvis’s 1973 Las Vegas shows, and a ticket from his ‘Aloha From Hawaii’ concert.

Elvis is the greatest male icon of the 20th Century. He is the original heartthrob, whose musical influence has shaped popular music and modern culture, the world over. With a devoted fan base unrivalled by any other musical artist, Elvis’s popularity never wanes and the extensive activity commemorating the 30th Anniversary of his death is testament to his longevity. Arguably he is as famous today as he was at the height of his career.

Elvis: The Official Collector’s Edition is available from all good newsagents including WH Smith and Easons. Published weekly, the first issue is priced at the special launch price of 99p and comes with the official collection box for storing all of the artefacts. Issue 2 is available with or without a DVD priced at £7.99 or £2.99 respectively. Thereafter the DVD option will be available every 2nd issue (i.e. with issues 4,6,8,10…).
