- New MagicTaxi internet search engine donates money to charity -

Just as summer finally arrives, are you looking for a last minute holiday? Homing in on a new a new mortgage deal before the next interest rate hike? Or are you already focused on your Christmas shopping as retailers look to make up for lost summer sales?!

Whatever your reason for surfing the Internet, with the launch of MagicTaxi’s new free search engine the everyday task of searching can now help you to raise money for the UK’s favourite charities including the British Heart Foundation, Guide Dogs, RNLI and Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Following the launch of MagicTaxi’s free email service last year, the company has developed a new search engine that donates 50% of the revenue it receives through advertising to major UK charities. It pools results from several other search engines, so you can use Yahoo!, go shopping on Kelkoo and do your research with Wikipedia.

And whilst you’re having a good old rummage on the Internet through MagicTaxi, you’re raising money for people and organisations who really need it.

Paul Quelch, managing director and founder of MagicTaxi, says: “More people than ever are using the Internet to search for goods and services plus a host of other reasons. By setting up a new search engine where half of the advertising revenues go to good causes, our aim is to make raising money for the UK’s favourite charities simple, transparent and fun.

“People can support one charity or support them all. And the more they search, the more money they raise, it’s as simple as that!”

MagicTaxi is a pioneer of altruistic Internet search. It is the only company to initiate a project on such a scale and bring this number and variety of ‘household name’ UK charities under one collaborative roof. These charities also benefit from MagicTaxi’s free email service, launched in April last year. It generates advertising revenue with each email sent or received online.

George Eracleous, Corporate Account Manager at the British Heart Foundation, said: “MagicTaxi has added an innovative yet practical dimension to the way charities, such as the BHF, are supported. The new MagicTaxi search engine service is a brilliantly simple concept. By basically doing what you already do on the Internet, but through MagicTaxi, you’ll be raising thousands of pounds for charities with very little effort.”
