This week EasyCallRecording launched a new subscription service which enables consumers to record and store important calls for pennies.

Recordings of telephone conversations with banks or insurers, for example, provide consumers with incontrovertible evidence to settle disputes or support complaints.

The £4.99 per month or £39.99 per year subscription service brings down the cost of call recording to only 5.7p per minute to UK landlines.

A 10p per minute pay-as-you-go service launched last month and is already used widely, despite being limited to outbound calls to UK landlines, freephone and local rate numbers. The new subscription service will enable consumers to record calls to all UK and international numbers, including mobile and premium-rate numbers. Subscribers also receive a dedicated inbound number to record incoming calls.

The subscription service option is designed to make call recording accessible to everyone. EasyCallRecording director Ben Fry believes the key to improving customer service in the UK is to encourage consumers to record calls as a matter of course.

‘If we are going to make a difference to the quality of customer services in this country, call recording needs to become the norm, not the exception,’ argues Mr Fry. ‘Widespread consumer call recording will create a pressure on businesses to improve, because they will be more accountable.’

EasyCallRecording users have already notched several notable consumer victories against household names such as Dell and British Airways.
