Codian’s high-definition video conferencing targets 14-19 reforms and learning platform

Continuing on from its success within the education sector, Codian, a leading voice and video communications infrastructure company, has announced a 5% manufacturer’s discount, available to all educational establishments, on orders placed by 15th March 2008, on selected products.

The offer will be of interest to schools and local authorities currently considering how best to implement the 14-19 reforms, defined in the DfES white paper. The ‘paper’ calls for the needs and aspirations of every young person to be identified and for improvements in vocational education. It also demands that all young people be stretched and for the disengaged to be re-motivated.

Using Codian’s high-definition voice and video conferencing solution, Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council is an excellent example of what can be achieved. “The opportunity presented by Codian’s high-definition video conferencing is so great that we are making it available to every primary classroom and every secondary school. It is integral to our vision and implementation of our Learning Platform, and a great way to deliver against the 14-19 reforms. It allows us to address every pupil as an individual and helps us to fulfil their aspirations,” said Steve Goodman, Head of ICT Strategy for Children, Young People, and Families at Oldham Metropolitan Borough Council.

Codian’s high-definition solutions are proving a powerful way to extend learning platforms and an exciting way to deliver students a positive experience in interactive communications. “As the only company with infrastructure products that deliver true high-definition video conferencing, we’re offering this discount in the belief that Codian can make a big difference to student engagement - which is essential to the successful outcome of the 14-19 reforms. Of course, video conferencing is also well suited and traditionally used for distance and remote learning but this is now only part of what is required by the education sector,” said Parvez Hemnani, Codian’s UK Country Manager.

Codian has a range of voice and video conferencing solutions that offer unmatched audio and visual quality over IP, delivering pupils and teachers a vastly superior all-round experience when compared to other available products. Codian’s products are renowned for their ease-of-use, which is essential for both teachers and students, allowing them to connect to a conference in a straightforward and intuitive way. With Codian’s unique product engineering and technology, teachers and local authorities are assured that the best voice and video quality is not only delivered but also maintained and optimised for available bandwidth.

Codian plans to extend the discount to educational establishments as an additional cost reduction on any quotation obtained from approved Codian resellers in the UK. To obtain a discount voucher, schools and other educational establishments need to register on www.codian.com/EducationDiscount.

The 5% manufacturer’s discount is applied to quotations from approved Codian resellers in the UK and upon the production of the voucher to be presented when placing an order. The discount only applies to Codian’s MCU Series of video conferencing bridges. Discount is only available to educational bodies throughout the United Kingdom . The offer closes on the 31st October 2007 with the discount redeemable until 15th March 2008.
