Interview opportunity with star of Channel 4's "Millionaire's Mission" Wednesday 12 September 2007 PDF Print "Millionaire's mission" is the new four-part series on Channel 4, which sees eight successful British business leaders challenged by leading development agency World Vision to use their business skills to tackle the seemingly intractable issue of poverty and improve the living standards of a remote Ugandan farming community. With the first episode to air next week, on Wednesday 19th September, and trailers already running for the show, we wondered if you’d be interested in speaking to, or running a feature on Shahid Azeem who was part of the group who swapped their UK lifestyles for four weeks living in a makeshift camp without running water or electricity. Shahid is set to be "the character" of the series according to initial screening reports. Shahid is passionate about charity and has done considerable work in his native Pakistan, and in the UK with charities like Jubilee Action, a children’s human rights organisation committed to children and families at risk, where Shahid was Charity Champion of the Year 2006. Donating at least 5% of his earnings every year to local worthy causes, Shahid took part in the programme to help the people there, and he has some strong views about his experience and struggles that he had in Uganda, including fighting corruption and bureaucracy, in a region so poor the average daily wage is just 50 pence. About Shahid: Shahid came to England from Pakistan aged 10 unable to speak English. Within a year his entrepreneurial flair saw him lending money to his classmates. After being expelled from school he worked in IT for several years, before spotting a gap in the PC market and setting up a business that was soon turning over £10 million a year. Cheekiness personified, Shahid has even been known to try and wrestle FA Cup tickets from the Queen - Her Majesty justifiably threatening to clip him round the ear for his gall. Passionate about charity, Shahid donates. He's from an interesting family -- his nephews include boxer Amir Khan and England cricketer Sajid Mahmood. If you're interested in speaking with Shahid or would like anymore information please get in touch. We have high res images available.
