New QuickBooks 2008 Redesigns Accounting Software Tuesday 18 September 2007 PDF Print Completely rewritten for simplicity and speed, QuickBooks 2008 is easier to learn & use, saving businesses time on routine tasks and putting them in control of their finances Maidenhead, UK, 18th September 2007 - Intuit launches QuickBooks 2008 today, the most significant new version of its small business financial management software since 1995. Based on extensive customer feedback, the entire family of QuickBooks software has been completely redesigned for the UK with a focus on much greater ease of use, helping businesses to work more efficiently. QuickBooks 2008 has a wealth of new customer-driven innovations that simplify and accelerate completion of everyday financial tasks, helping small businesses to manage their customers, suppliers and staff more professionally. The improvements to the software’s navigation begin with a new Home Page which displays all of the user’s most important and critical activities on one simple screen, saving time on hunting through menus and lists. This can be customised to suit an individual business, making it much easier to see essential business information, including account balances. The new Customer and Supplier Centres in QuickBooks Pro and Premier are amongst the extensive transformations in QuickBooks 2008. These bring all customer and supplier information into one central location, so that key data including contact and transaction history can be viewed on a single page. Furthermore, frequently-executed tasks such as finding lists and reports are now no more than two mouse clicks away, enabling rapid navigation for users. Critical business relationships can be managed better as users have all relevant details at their fingertips, allowing businesses to respond to customers and suppliers quickly and effectively. Similarly, a new Employee Centre allows businesses to view all their employee and payroll tasks on a single screen, making it easier for them to carry out functions such as tracking employee time or job costs, and automatically billing them. For first-time users, set-up is simplified so they can map their business onto QuickBooks swiftly before moving onto other features. The new Easy Step® Start Up Interview process is much shorter, focuses on the fundamentals and uses plain English rather than accounting terminology to ensure QuickBooks is installed successfully. QuickBooks Pro and Premier automate the account selection-process, recommending common account types for 29 key industry types. This helps first time users to organise their accounts correctly and avoid errors at the set-up stage. QuickBooks “learns” from repeated entries so that when a user chooses a new supplier, an account will pre-fill based on past entries. This saves time and means users are more likely to choose the right accounts for their expenses, avoiding costly mistakes that their accountants have to correct at a later date. Other improvements include a new VAT management feature to enable centralised and enhanced VAT management; integration with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook contacts* and more options to customise and create professional-looking forms and reports. Richard Bee, UK managing director of Intuit said: “Businesses don’t want accounting software that is complicated to learn and use. They want software that is easy to install and will integrate seamlessly with other applications, as well as being user-friendly so staff can pick it up easily and get the job done as quickly as possible. To this end we’ve designed every feature and function from the customer’s perspective to make QuickBooks 2008 even more easy to use and the whole accounting process much clearer”.
