Call Centre Expo, the international exhibition & conference for customer contact solutions, will be hosting business briefings from the Direct Marketing Association (DMA), which will also be unveiling its ‘Telemarketing Manifesto’ at the exhibition.

The DMA wants to improve consumer perceptions of telephone marketing and contact centres and has drafted a Telemarketing Manifesto, which will sit alongside its Code of Practice and Best Practice Guidelines. Through strict compliance to these guidelines and an investment in infrastructure and pay, the trade association encourages all companies to respond to the standards, enabling consumer perceptions to change.

Call Centre Expo, is the perfect event for the launch, with visitors attending from a variety of industry sectors who are Heads, Directors and Managers from the call and contact centre industry all of whom attend the two day market-leading exhibition to champion best practice and promote excellence within the industry.

The DMA will also run two further business briefing sessions. The first seminar, ‘Telemarketing Best Practice: A Client’s Guide to Outsourcing’ helps client companies establish effective selection criteria and understand the regulatory environment and best practice standards which impact on telemarketing. The seminar also gives guidance on how to integrate telemarketing activity into the overall marketing structure.

The second seminar, ‘Telemarketing, Diallers, Regulation & Compliance’ will look at the state of the market, nuisance calls, compliance and the need for greater vigilance in order to regain consumer trust and confidence. The DMA explains the rules, considers the impact of Ofcom’s and the Information Commissioner’s recent regulatory action and ventures a guess about the likelihood of further intervention by the statutory regulators.
