Hassnet launches English CaseMap user group for criminal lawyers Wednesday 26 September 2007 PDF Print The first meeting of the CaseMap User Group will take place at Simmons & Simmons’ London office at City Point on October 26th at 2pm CaseMap is dedicated software solution that allows lawyers to build a searchable database of evidence. It has been specifically designed and refined with complex cases in mind. The user group was the brainchild of Jacintha Hodgson, whose company Hassnet specialise in providing a one stop criminal evidence solution to legal firms using CaseMap. Ms Hodgson says: “Essentially CaseMap offers both arms of the profession a tool to collate their case knowledge. It ensures that lawyers and barristers have all the facts at their fingertips so the legal team’s energy is directed at case analysis, not trawling through paper files.” “The purpose of this meeting is to exchange hints and tips on how to make best use of the software in practice, for users to voice their opinions about desirable support and training options, and to list suggestions for improvements to the product so we can impact on future developments in a way that best suits overall UK user needs.” “We recognise that the user numbers have now grown to the point, that a User group is the next logical step. And I hope this meeting is the first in what I hope to be a constructive forum.” Although CaseMap is used by many leading firms, it is now being rolled out across in the UK by parent company CaseSoft (owned by Lexis Nexis). Early adopters include many of the leading members of the Specialist Fraud Panel. CaseMap is widely used in the USA by leading US law firms and institutions such as the US Department of Defence and FBI. Ms Hodgson added: “As well as criminal lawyers, others who would find CaseMap useful are investigators, forensic accountants, divorce lawyers, public sector planners. In fact anyone who has a need to organise, extract key data and analyse large amounts of documentation in a searchable electronic database can find CaseMap a useful tool.” According to host Mark Dingle of Simmons & Simmons: “As one of the first large UK firms to adopt CaseMap, this is in my view this is an extremely valuable exercise which is why we are keen to host the first event and to make it as easy of possible for our fee earners to get involved.” If you would like further information about the User Group please contact Jay Hodgson on 07795 364 980 or 01527 857555 – or email – firstname.lastname@example.org. Having come across Case Map’s software, Hassnet realised the benefits it could give to firms dealing with paper heavy and detail rich cases such as fraud, where the amount of paperwork could be massive. However some firms that had bought the software without supporting services have found it difficult to build the initial case database. So it is Hassnet that bridges the gap for people who want to plug into the benefits that the award winning CaseMap software can bring. Hassnet takes all the papers for a case and produces electronic copies for the database. Using that information it will populate the CaseMap document directory and build links to CaseMap files so there is a searchable electronic database at the solicitor’s fingertips. Hassnet will also introduce TimeMap to law firms so it can be used to create timeline graphs which can be essential to seeing the reality of a case. Finally Hassnet will also train those who will be using CaseMap and provide ongoing support so its features are thoroughly exploited. Hassnet is an accredited CPD training provider for both the Bar Council and The Law Society. Simmons & Simmons London office is home to over 1000 staff including over 500 legal staff. It is a leading international law firm with over 2,000 people and 21 offices located in major business and financial centres throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia. 25th September 2007 This press release was distributed by ResponseSource Press Release Wire on behalf of ASAP Ltd in the following categories: Public Sector, Third Sector & Legal, for more information visit http://pressreleasewire.responsesource.com/about.
