Save time and wasted meeting invites with TeamCalendar from Handstep

London, Wednesday 26th September 2007 - For the first time, users of Windows Mobile Smartphones and PDAs can access the contents of their colleagues’ calendars when out and about with the launch of TeamCalendar, a new software product from HandStep. In addition, TeamCalendar allows people to search for free time slots and book meetings with colleagues directly from their phones. No longer do they have to wait until they get back to a PC in the office to access calendars and book meeting with colleagues.

“Having access to the calendars of your colleagues and being able to book meetings whenever you need to is a big boost to the productivity of working teams”, says Brian Nielsson founder of HandStep, “This is a first on Windows Mobile devices and I’m certain that it’s the start of a new wave of software and services to help people improve team collaboration.”

A unique feature of TeamCalendar is the SmartPlanning function which compares different co-workers’ calendars and identifies exactly the time slot which is most suitable for all. The meeting planner conveniently identifies all future available meeting slots and will suggest the most appropriate time. In this way, SmartPlanning puts an end to the frustration associated with finding a free time slot in everyone’s calendar.

TeamCalendar is based on Microsoft’s Outlook platform and works in a familiar way to booking meetings on the PC. TeamCalendar automatically synchronises with Microsoft Exchange servers to ensure that calendar information on the mobile device is always up-to-date.

For companies looking to roll out TeamCalendar to large numbers of users, HandStep has provided tools for company systems administrators that ensure that the deployment process is very simple and secure. TeamCalendar can be easily installed on all company Pocket PCs and SmartPhones from one central location in a few seconds. All users need is an internet connection, a login and password.

Security is Essential
TeamCalendar can be installed either inside the company firewall or hosted externally. When hosted, no information is stored on the hosting server. Business sensitive and confidential information is only ever stored on the company’s own server and its mobile devices, and these are secured with a login and password. “We take security very seriously and no one should worry that mobile devices are of greater risk than PCs,” says Brian Nielsson.

TeamCalendar can be used on all Pocket PCs and SmartPhones running Microsoft’s Windows Mobile software together with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 SP2 or a more recent version.
