London, UK – 1st October 2007 – Reef Point Systems, a leader in fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) border platforms and solutions, today announced it has launched its new state-of-the-art testing and interoperability lab in expanded headquarters in Billerica, Massachusetts. A key component of the company’s Partner Edge program, this new testing facility is stocked with extensive tools and equipment enabling technology partners and service providers to address the challenges of interoperability testing. The facilities enable test integration of customer premise to core network elements. The launch of the lab is associated also with Reef Point’s announcement of the availability of high-scale blade servers, including ATCA standard chassis options.

“We look forward to welcoming our ecosystem partners serving fixed and mobile network operators into our new facilities, to work with our R&D and quality assurance teams,” said Mark Pugerude, VP Corporate and Business Development for Reef Point. “In addition to actively participating in Plug Fests with the IMS Forum and other associations, we have invested in providing an environment in which we can move quickly and efficiently to integrate and interoperate with an increasing range of technologies. The industry is moving quickly, and having the lab and a talented staff in place enables Reef Point to shorten the time of development and testing without sacrificing quality outcomes.”

The openness and flexibility of FMC and IMS technologies are creating new deployment complexities for service providers — with interoperability chief among them. Service providers can spend months in testing to ensure products purchased from separate vendors work cohesively. Reef Point’s Partner Edge program and real-time lab testing reduces the hurdles of interoperability between ecosystem solution providers. With the assurance that Reef Point’s hardware and software platforms work seamlessly with other vendors' products, service providers are able to innovate new applications they can confidently deploy on secure, high scale networks.

Reef Point's access independent and standards-based approach to next-generation session management supports interoperability across the broadest range of endpoints and applications. Because fixed and mobile networks require increasing interconnections as communications continue to converge and roam, ensuring IP interoperability across all elements of multi-service IP infrastructures is essential to performance and economics. Reef Point works and coordinates with operators, technology companies and systems integrators to address the increasing demands of enterprises and consumers.
