- Listings website, Local Secrets, is adopting web-based alerting tool from elertz -

Website and digital magazine, Local Secrets, is adopting a new website alerts system from ad:tech exhibitor elertz which allows customers to sign up to receive instant alerts when the specific information they want becomes available, without any threat of an email deluge or spam filling up their inbox.

The digital magazine offers reviews, previews, and interviews in around and about Cambridge, while the Local Secrets website combines reviews and listings of local restaurants and bars, shopping, entertainment, and events with a booking system, effectively providing a one-stop-shop for a day or night out.

The elertz technology will enable Local Secrets to interact with consumers through the delivery of instantaneous alerts straight to a user’s desktop without being intrusive or clogging up inboxes. Registered users will receive an alert within 30 seconds of the information they are interested in becoming available on the website,

These alerts can be general, such as a notification that a new magazine is available on the website, or very specific using customer-defined parameters, such as sporting events on Sundays, or theatre tickets at a specified venue. Once an event matching the prescribed criteria is posted on the website the user will be notified through their browser window.

Neal Robbins, Managing Director, Local Secrets, comments, “We did consider other feeds, but then we discovered elertz. Elertz appealed to us as a more flexible solution better suited to our needs and the needs of our customers. The people we have worked with from elertz have all been incredibly helpful, taking the time to assist us and make the technology work for us and our customers. We look forward to being able to offer this quick and effective alerting system to our customers.”

About Elertz

Elertz is a new web-based alerting system that allows businesses to communicate with customers without having to resort to increasingly intrusive channels such as email, direct mail and fax. Using the Elertz communication tool, end users are alerted to the delivery of new information from websites of their choice by a small flashing red star located in their desktop browser.

Elertz removes phishing and spam problems and helps to combat communication gridlock by enabling end users to stay in control and manage the information they receive. This means they are more likely to respond positively to businesses providing important services or innovative products.

The Elertz mission is to make the Internet work for end users and legitimate businesses and to provide technology to thwart the spammers, scammers and phishers who do their best to corrupt the internet.
