Mobile gamers get independent advice Monday 22 October 2007 PDF Print Mobile games magazine to launch in all T-Mobile stores and online for Vodafone customers from October 29th London, UK: Customers of Vodafone and T-Mobile who want to play games on their phone can now benefit from expert guidance thanks to a free mobile gaming guide. Created by the experts from PocketGamer.co.uk, the Pocket Gamer Guide to Mobile Games is the first independent guide to the best mobile games available to UK consumers. The 36-page, A5 magazine will be distributed to customers of UK mobile operators T-Mobile and Vodafone in both print and digital editions*. The title is expected to boast a circulation of more than 150,000 copies. UK Games Manager for T-Mobile Neil Holroyd comments “Mobile Games are a key part of our content strategy and we’re always delighted to be involved with initiatives that can contribute towards our growth. The Pocket Gamer Guide to Mobile Games will drive higher customer awareness of the great mobile games available.” Designed to educate mobile consumers and celebrate the quality in mobile games, the magazine includes news and previews of the hottest upcoming titles, reviews of the best new games to buy now, features on gaming issues and a step-by-step guide to downloading games. Crucially, there will also be short codes alongside every game available at date of going to press, so the title will drive sales of featured games to a new audience. Steel Media’s managing director, Chris James explained: “Pocket Gamer is committed to spreading the word about the joys of gaming on the go, we think portable gaming is the future of the games market and mobile is potentially the biggest games format on the market. “We want to provide a genuine quality barometer ensuring that new mobile gamers have a good first experience. The magazine is just the latest extension of the work we started with the website and certainly won’t be the last!” The initiative has already gained considerable support from the mobile games publishers too, with leading players such as Gameloft, EA Mobile, Digital Chocolate, Vivendi Universal, Disney Mobile Studios, Glu, Player X and I-play and Capcom all advertising. However, this is just the start according to James with more partners waiting in the wings and big developments ahead for future issues. “The magazine has worked brilliantly with T-Mobile and we’re delighted to see it being distributed through all stores. We’re also overjoyed to welcome Vodafone as our second operator partner and hope to announce further partners shortly.” -Ends- Notes to editors: * The T-Mobile edition will be available in all UK stores and also online, whilst the Vodafone edition will be available online and promoted via the Vodafone Live website and dedicated mail-outs.
