AOR D-MANNOSE SUPPORTING THE HEALTH OF THE URINARY TRACT

AOR D-Mannose, which may support the health of the urinary tract, is being launched in the UK by Canadian company Advanced Orthomolecular Research (AOR) at a press conference in London at the Royal Society of Medicine, 1 Wimpole Street, London W1 on October 31, 2007 at 10.30 a.m.

Speaking at the press conference will be Dr. Jonathan Wright, Medical Director of the Tahoma Clinic, Washington, USA whose pioneering work in the early 90s led him to prescribe D-mannose supplements to his patients as a treatment for persistent and recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs).

In the UK over 50% of all women suffer from a UTI at least once in their lives. Of these, 90% will experience recurrent bouts of UTI experiencing such symptoms as excruciating pain, blood in the urine, loss of self confidence etc. (Figures supplied by Cystitis & Overactive Bladder Foundation http://www.cobfoundation.org) 5.5 million NHS prescriptions to treat UTIs were issued in 2004 Conventional treatment is based on the use of antibiotics but, while they help with acute problems, they are not an effective long term solution for recurrent UTIs.
