London 1st November 2007 - The first ever Telecommunications Cannibalisation Conference, researched and produced by BroadGroup Tariff Services will take place 31st January-1st February 2008 at the Cass Business School in London, in response to concern in the market about how to exploit value from fixed and mobile convergence.

Key speakers include Martin Silman AT&T - Robin Tucker Vodafone - Peter Gardener 3i plc - Sakarai Kotara Nokia Siemens Networks - David MacFarlane Azzuri Communications - Ken Greene iPass - Gert-Jan Huizer iBasis - and Dr. Jorg Berthold, Deutsche Telekom.

BroadGroup research shows that as operators switch offerings to mobile and broadband services sales of fixed voice communications are cannibalised, which means traditional telcos need to re-invent themselves. At the same time, maintaining revenues from voice and data applications is becoming increasingly difficult due to the increased maturity of markets in which fixed-mobile convergence strategies are being deployed. This timely conference will also assess the emergence of disruptive providers and their impact on the market.

Conference topics will feature how to understand your market and develop customer loyalty in telecoms, how to raise ARPU through fixed-mobile convergence, a special New Entrant Forum, perspectives from the financial analysts, and an insight how technology plays a role in cannibalisation today. The event will also ask how voice specialists can survive and what is the role of the regulator in maintaining balance in the turbulent period that lies ahead.

“Projecting revenues and profit in such a fast moving environment is hugely significant given the public listings of most telcos,” commented Margrit Sessions, managing director of BroadGroup Tariff Services. “This new forum facilitates a critical examination of how revenue objectives can be achieved as players navigate their services and pricing towards convergence, and how quickly can cannibalisation be turned to their advantage.”
