Sexy Brits prefer poking offline than on Facebook Friday 2 November 2007 PDF Print FACEBOOK has led to a surge in people POKING in the bedroom. The social network site has a function allowing its users to "poke" random strangers, friends or lovers. But Brits still prefer to do it for real with a whopping 67 per cent saying they would rather do it offline, in a poll of nearly 2000 people by sextoys.co.uk. A quarter of those asked, admitted to being addicted to poking people on Facebook with around eight per cent using MySpace for Internet fun. Monique Carty, of sextoys.co.uk, said: "With over 10,000 new Facebook users every day and one per cent of all time spent on the Internet belonging to people using the networking site, we were worried the impact the site was having on our customer’s sex lives. I know of numerous Facebook widows but luckily our stats show Brits are still far happier poking in the bedroom." Groups have now sprung up on Facebook in a bid to covert the virtual pastime into the real world with one called 'Enough poking let's just have sex' hooking up random strangers for offline fun. -ENDS – Notes to editors: sextoys.co.uk is the UK’s biggest online adult retailer and winner of Scarlet magazine Best sex toy retailer 2007 and ETO Best Online Adult retailer 2007.
