YELLAHAUS, the home of ‘Democratic Art’ launches Tuesday 13 November 2007 PDF Print - Website Offering Exclusive ‘Art for the People – Created by the People’ - The majority of us would feel somewhat intimidated entering a trendy gallery or going to an art auction. However, YELLAHAUS, a website commissioning seriously limited edition pieces from emerging UK talent, is about to change that. YELLAHAUS is giving ordinary people the chance to break into the art world, which is usually the niche of millionaire collectors, by offering limited-edition cutting edge pieces, in an online forum, created by emerging artistes. It is also providing a platform for the unknown, undiscovered artist to showcase their abilities through a unique talent search programme, which encourages individuals to submit work to a specific brief and then enabling visitors to the YELLAHAUS site to vote for which artist will be commissioned to create the next YELLAHAUS Storyboard. With YELLAHAUS there is no place for shyness or feeling out of one’s depth – and there is definitely no chance of ending up with a mainstream piece of art. YELLAHUAS is setting the ‘democratic’ agenda by offering topical, of-the-moment pieces that aspiring artists, photographers, designers or sculptures have interpreted from the YELLAHAUS-commissioned brief. The first piece for sale on YELLAHAUS is by Brighton-based artist Tim Leopard, known for his unique approach to the montage art form. He was commissioned to create a piece entitled ‘The Five Gordons’; reflecting the ‘most influential Gordons’ as identified by a Google-search, following Gordon Brown taking the key to Number 10. The piece, described as ‘emo art’ because it reflects the attitudes and fashion styles of the ‘emotional punk’ culture, captures an intense scene featuring Gordon Brown and David Cameron. It also features Gordon Ramsey, arguably the UK’s most featured celebrity chef. Only 10 limited edition prints of the ‘Five Gordons’ will be available from YELLAHAUS.com priced at £2,595. Each is A1 in size, with the print area sized at A2, has been printed on high quality 5mm acrylic and will be delivered in individually styled YELLAHAUS-branded packaging. The original artwork will be auctioned for a charity, as voted for by YELLAHAUS visitors in 2008. Tim Leopard explains the thought process behind his provocative piece: “I wanted to create an emotive, symmetrical and very British piece that captures the most influential Gordon’s of our time, yet incorporating issues from today’s political scene. The finger-bitten clasped hands at the bottom of the picture are Gordon Brown's. The smaller, laughing Gordon Brown is being patted on the head by David Cameron, who is waiting patiently in line to potentially take over the PM mantle. Gordon Ramsay features twice; one with his head incorporated onto a Chihuahua representing that his bark is worse than his bite.” Ian Mitchell, founder of YELLAHAUS added: “For too long buying art has been the domain of the rich and famous, YELLAHAUS is about to change that – we are redefining the art buying experience. YELLAHAUS is proud to bring exciting, spirited work from relatively unknown artistes to a whole new audience who will be able to see and interpret the YELLAHAUS brand in an individual way”. “YELLAHAUS is about breaking down barriers and experimenting in different directions. So much art talent goes to waste in the UK because of lack of opportunity. In addition, so few people collect art, many because they falsely believe it to be out of their league. Through YELLAHAUS, owning and creating art is going to take on a whole new meaning. We are excited to be the driving force behind the Democratic Art movement.” YELLAHAUS consists of two key areas; the YELLAHAUS Storyboards©, which are Zeitgeist commissioned limited-edition 2D art prints created by up-and-coming UK artists; and YELLAHAUS Originals©, which are lifestyle and fashion YELLAHAUS-branded objects, which are also limited edition, and will include sculptures and home wares. YELLAHAUS is commissioning one artist every quarter to create a limited edition Storyboard© piece. No more than six pieces will ever be available to view and purchase on the website at any one time. http://www.YELLAHAUS.com -Ends- Note to Editors: High-resolution images of the YELLAHAUS site, the ‘Five Gordons’ art work and artist Tim Leopard are available to view and download online via http://www.prshots.com/?clid=2225 About Tim Leopard Brighton-based artist and Goldsmith Graduate, Tim Leopard, has been creating montage-based art for almost twenty years.
