Leading U.K. law firm to use Pivotal CRM to continue driving profit growth

More than 680 of Cobbetts' employees will be empowered with CDC Pivotal CRM to facilitate further improvement and expansion of client relationships

LONDON, HONG KONG, Monday December 10th, 2007-CDC Software (, a wholly owned subsidiary of CDC Corporation and a provider of industry-specific enterprise software and services, announced today that Cobbetts, one of the U.K.'s most respected regional law firms with offices in Birmingham, Leeds, London and Manchester, has selected Pivotal CRM application to improve client understanding, promote best practices, streamline marketing activities, and capitalize upon untapped opportunities within the client base.

The move closely follows strong continued growth across the firm's offices. Cobbetts is a top 50 law firm with 108 partners, and having recently announced a 26 percent rise in partner profits, the firm has a projected fee income approaching £65m. According to Cobbetts, this success is partially driven by the firm's partner managed-client relationships approach. Using CDC Software's Pivotal CRM solution, Cobbetts will now have a holistic view of client activity, marketing, and case information in one intuitive system. The Pivotal CRM system will enable Cobbetts to empower its more than 680 employees that include partners, lawyers and support team employees to more effectively service and grow its business and improve overall organizational performance.

Kevin Goosman, Head of IT and CRM Project Manager said, "As a law firm, we have consistently been very progressive in our adoption of the latest technologies. The strength of the Pivotal CRM solution became obvious after we evaluated other providers - both enterprise and industry-specific. The vertical focus of Pivotal CRM in the legal and professional services industries will enable us to deploy the solution in a very short period while allowing us to maintain our focus on our business objectives. At the same time, Pivotal CRM offers advanced functionality that can be configured for the way we want to do business. Ultimately, the system will enable us to provide world-class client service, expand our services, and identify cross-practice business opportunities."

With Pivotal CRM, Cobbetts now can improve its performance in key business functions including:

Monitor and act on client feedback - Cobbetts continuously monitors client satisfaction including routine face-to-face meetings with top clients by senior partners. Pivotal CRM will enable them to ensure that all interactions, feedback and action points are visible to all parties interacting with a particular client.

Identify client-base opportunities - In addition, the firm operates a flexible, focused team structure that has been developed across eight key practice areas including: corporate, real estate, banking, commercial, dispute resolution, employment, private capital and social housing. CDC Software's Pivotal CRM will empower Cobbetts to identify and act on cross-selling and up-selling opportunities with clients in each of these practice areas.

"We are delighted to deliver a full-service CRM solution that addresses the business needs of Cobbetts and helps their partners, lawyers and administration employees enhance client service and grow their business," said Peter Sellers, solutions consultant for CDC Software. "This is a significant commitment that reaffirms our focus and unique expertise in the legal services sector. We look forward to working closely with Cobbetts to ensure a speedy deployment and achievement of their client service and financial objectives."
