New England manager Fabio Capello has set himself a target of learning English in just 18 days! It seems impossible, but a new campaign wants to help Fabio learn the lingo in time!

The Capello Learn English campaign has been set up to offer support to the new gaffer as he attempts to learn the English language before his first meeting with the players on 7th January 2008.

Loyal England fans can visit the Capello Learn English website and post words of encouragement to the Italian. Got any tips on how to handle the country’s top footballers? Are you fluent in cockney rhyming slang to help the gaffer understand Frank Lampard and John Terry? Can you give Fabio the inside track on Scouser terminology?

If you want to restore the national side to its former glory, now’s the time to get behind the former Real Madrid coach and help him become fluent in English. Effective communication on and off the field is something most fans feel the Three Lions have lacked in recent years, so let Fabio and the boys know you’re behind them.

Paul Friend, spokesperson for the Capello Learn English campaign said: “Like a lot of football fans, we’ve become quite disillusioned with the performance of the England team in recent years. This campaign is our way of getting behind Fabio Capello, who has an excellent track record in club management, and making sure he hits it off with the players. He’s only got a few weeks, but we think he can do it.”
