The simple message behind Purple Love Week, 9th – 16th February 2008, is to encourage people to go out and find great food and enjoy it with great company. Thousands of people have taken part in Purple Love Week, Britain’s biggest tasting event, which was first set up in 2006. This year, delis, farm shops, butchers, bakers, corner shops, restaurants, good food halls and producers of great food will all be joining in and holding tastings and events throughout the week.

“Our aim is simple, to encourage people to enjoy great food in great company. Wherever they choose to buy it, the local deli, farmers’ market, restaurant, pub or even a traditional pie ‘n’ mash shop – we just want people to enjoy a food experience and tell us all about it!” said Giles Henschel, founder of Dorset food company Olives Et Al and creator of Purple Love Week. There’s a dedicated website for PurpleLoveWeek which has loads of information about the event along with a page where people can tell others about their favourite food or food place and there’s a chance to win a hamper full of Purple Love Week food.

Created by Giles Henschel, founder of the Dorset food company Olives Et Al, Purple Love Week has developed into a much bigger event for 2008. “Purple Love Week has really captured the imagination of thousands of food lovers up and down the country. It started as a fun way of brightening up February, but this year we have got involved with many more producers who want to support the event. We hope that more people will join in this year than ever before – and seek out the best pie, the most delicious cheeses, a great baker or a traditional butcher,” said Giles.
