In an age when mobile handsets make all the headlines, the Mobile Data Association is asking the UK public to vote for their favourite mobile network. To cast your vote simply text ‘MDA + Operator name’ (3, O2, Orange, T-Mobile or Vodafone) to 80010. Speaking about the text vote launch, the MDA Chairman, Mike Short, said: “Our awards have now been running for four years and they continue to be a highlight in the mobile calendar. The launch today of the text vote, to nominate your favourite network is an important part of the awards. The mobile industry often focuses too much on new and exciting devices, when there is real innovation being delivered by many of the operators and this is what we want to promote.” The Mobile Data Association, now in it 15th year, has long been recognised as the authority and gateway into the operator environment in the UK. The awards themselves set out to recognise real world mobile technology and proven solutions that deliver compelling user experiences. The full awards will recognise achievements in the following categories: The MDA Personal Achievement Award The MDA executive committee will select the personality that they feel has made the most outstanding contribution to the Mobile Data industry. Best Mobile Device (Hardware) This award will be given to the most innovative product that has made the most significant difference to the Mobile Data industry. Best Messaging Application (General) This award will be given to the most innovative messaging solution/product that has increased the uptake and usage of messaging market. Best Mobile Data Application (Consumer) This award will be given to the most innovative messaging solution/product that has demonstrated the greatest impact and interest amongst consumers. Best Mobile Data Application (Corporate) This award will be given to the most innovative mobile data application that has had a positive effect on the corporate world over the last 10 years. Best Network The award will go to the Network that has shown the most innovation in encouraging the uptake of Mobile Data both in the consumer and corporate space. (Industry text vote) Best Mobile Internet Use This award will go to the most innovative use of WAP and associated browser technologies, that has made a significant positive impact on the uptake of Mobile Internet. The MDA Green Award This award will go to the most innovative use of mobile technology in reducing carbon emissions Chairman’s UK Mobile Innovation Award This award recognises the company/application that best highlights/underlines the level of innovation currently thriving in the UK Entry process All awards need to be submitted via the MDA awards website www.mdaawards.org • The Judging Panel must receive all entries before 5pm on 31st January 2008. • Entrants who have been long listed for each award category will be notified shortly after this. • Long listed entries could be required to attend a judging day, or be asked to provide further information to support their entry. • Short listed entries will be announced on 15th February 2008. • Winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner at the Painters' Hall, Trinity Lane, London on Thursday 20th March 2008. -ENDS- Notes to editors: Entries can be submitted either by the company / organisation / individual in question, or a third party.
