Worcester’s Alice Moulder reaches her 100th birthday as local law firm help her to achieve her lifelong wish of owning a string of pearls. Thursday 24 January 2008 PDF Print Alice Moulder, a resident of Worcester-based nursing home Henwick Grange, has celebrated her 100th birthday in style by achieving her lifelong wish of owning a string of cultured pearls. She was presented with the gift from Dawn Oliver, Head of the Private Client Department at leading Worcestershire and West Midlands law firm Harrison Clark LLP. Dawn acts as Alice’s attorney handling all her private client matters and is delighted to be able to help Alice fulfil her dream of owning a pearl necklace. Alice was born on 26 January 1908 in Islington in London when. Edward VII was on the throne. She was brought up in an orphanage so did not have much of a childhood. At the age of 14 she was put into service in Buckinghamshire working as a maid for a doctor and his family. She was known as a “tweenie” which allowed her to work upstairs and downstairs. Alice eventually moved to Woodstock in Oxfordshire where she became a silver service waitress working in The Bear Hotel. Through a friend, she then met her husband Arthur, a gardener at Blenheim Palace and they were married in Woodstock spending the rest of their married life together in a cottage near the village. During the war, Arthur was a Desert Rat fighting from Alamein to Torbruck. He came back to Woodstock and became caretaker of a school. He also became verger at the parish church. Alice was not able to have children but her happy life with Arthur made up for her missed childhood. After Arthur died, Alice moved to Worcester to be near friends. She became an active member of St John’s Parish Church. She moved into Henwick Grange Nursing Home a few years ago but has no family and only a few friends now visit her. She is still an active lady and enjoys shopping, knitting and crocheting. A special party is being planned for her birthday. Derek Jones, proprietor of the Henwick Grange Nursing Home is supplying the champagne for the event. Commenting on the plans Derek said, “We are absolutely delighted to help Alice celebrate her 100th birthday. It is not very often that we have a resident who achieves this magnificent milestone. We are also grateful to Dawn Oliver at Harrison Clark for their generous gift and also to Pat Smith at the Worcester Antiques Centre who helped us to source such a beautiful necklace and also made a donation towards its cost. It is a great present for a great lady.” For further information on this press release please contact Dawn Oliver at Harrison Clark on 01905 612001 or e-mail:firstname.lastname@example.org Alternatively you can speak to Angela Baker at Marketing IQ Ltd on Tel: 01905 359475 or e-mail: email@example.com For information on Henwick Grange please contact Derek Jones on Tel: 01905 424705 Dawn Oliver, Head of the Private Client Department at Harrison Clark LLP presenting Alice Moulder with her string of pearls necklace This press release was distributed by ResponseSource Press Release Wire on behalf of Harrison Clark in the following categories: Men's Interest, Women's Interest & Beauty, for more information visit http://pressreleasewire.responsesource.com/about.
