The current British national skydiving team is, for the 2nd time, an all female team. BodyflightStorm beat many all male teams, including the army, to become the British champions at the skydiving nationals last summer.

But now they face their biggest challenge yet, as they take on 40 of the best teams from around the world at the BodyflightWorldChallenge in March.

BodyflightBedford, the World’s largest wind tunnel, will host the indoor skydiving World Challenge which sees teams travel to the UK from as far a field as Russia, South Africa, America, and from all over Europe.

Last years competition was dominated by American teams who took gold in both the formation skydiving and artistic categories. This year however, Storm will be in with a real chance of claiming gold for the UK.

“After winning the UK nationals in the summer we are looking forward to the Bodyflight World Challenge as our next big competition.” Says Claire ‘Sparky’ Scott, two times Formation skydiving World champion and Storm team member. “We are training hard for the competition and have just got home from California where we did some training jumps in preparation. The competition will also give us the opportunity to compete against teams that we will meet later next year at the Skydiving World Championships to be held in August in France. This will allows us to asses whether we are on track in our bid to become World Champions next year”.

The Bodyflight World Challenge is the only skydiving competition in the UK to take place indoors. The 16.5ft diameter wind tunnel generates wind speeds of up to 200mph in order to allow people to really fly. The competition itself is a huge money meet with a prize pot of £20,000 up for grabs. Last years World Challenge was a resounding success as it was dubbed:

“The most significant international competition for skydivers ever held in the UK”
by Skydive magazine.
