The Relaxation for Living Institute (RFLI) is offering limited spaces for its two day weekend seminar that trains and licenses teachers to set up their own practices bearing the RFLI name. The two day event, scheduled for March 15th-16th, in London, will cover a variety of topics and techniques combined with some distance learning.

Once teachers have completed the pre course work on basic anatomy and physiology and attended the weekend workshop where they will learn the skills of teaching relaxation & breathing, they will have to pass a practical assessment before being licensed. When licensed, they may either work with a local NHS practice as an in-house Relaxation for Living facility or run private classes from home or for organisations including corporates, clubs, schools and colleges.

Stress is responsible for 6 million sick days a year in the UK alone. According to a national survey, 1 in 5 people are already stressed even before they eat their breakfast and half the UK population struggles to sleep at night due to stress. Millions of people suffer from stress-provoked headaches, migraines, digestive problems and 1 in 5 Brits suffer from panic attacks. The RFLI offers simple, comprehensible teaching to enable everyone to cope better with the stress in their lives.

Richard Hilliard, the Director of the Institute, worked in the City as a Lloyd’s broker between 1974 and 1998. Having suffered from persistent bad health in the mid 1980's, Richard was referred to the Institute by his GP. The results were amazing and as a result of experiencing such positive and dramatic changes he decided that he himself should enrol to learn and teach the techniques. Today Richard is the Director of the RFLI and to date he has run workshops for some of the UK's leading companies as well as personally coaching a confidential client base including politicians, leaders in business, and well known actors and actresses.

By 1993 Relaxation for Living was a highly successful organisation with a network of fully trained teachers running classes for thousands of people all over the country. Advice on relaxation and coping with stress and anxiety appeared every day in national newspapers and magazines, on radio and television.

The Institute now plays a key role in the industry and in many people's lives, showing them how to cope with the unpleasant symptoms of fear and anxiety, as well as training and licensing people to teach the RFLI method and help them build profitable practices.

Editor’s Notes:

● The first Relaxation for Living was started as an educational charity in 1972 by Amber Lloyd, whose husband had had a heart attack and had been told to learn to relax. Spurred on by his illness and eventual death, Amber and a few colleagues began to train a group in the art of teaching men, women and children how to relax, reduce their anxiety and feel better. The training program was based on the work of Jane Madders, Laura Mitchell and Dr Claire Weekes.

● By 1993 Relaxation for Living had a network of fully-trained teachers running classes for thousands of people all over the country. The charity was wound up in 2003 but its methods and principles form the foundation of the Relaxation for Living Institute which Richard started in 2005 as a commercial entity.

● Relaxation For Living has produced their first DVD We Can All Relax which can be purchased at www.rfli.co.uk for £11.99.
