Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, February 11th 2008 – Creativity Software, a supplier of mobile location solutions, announced today that it will be presenting a new version of its ‘Rough Guides Mobile’ application for Intel-based Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs).

MIDs are an emerging category of consumer devices that combine the compatibility of the PC and Internet with the mobility of a handheld device. Several MIDs are expected to have integrated GPS functionality and provide navigation capabilities with real-time LBS and user generated content.

“We are only just starting to scratch the surface of what location-aware applications and services can bring to mobile devices for the connected consumer,” said Saul Olivares, Marketing Manager, Creativity Software. “MIDs offer a rich, engaging new mobile experience which will enable device manufacturers to differentiate themselves, while allowing service providers to explore new mobile usage models, and is a perfect showcase for the growth opportunities that mobile location technologies represents.”

Presenting its ‘Rough Guides Mobile,’ Creativity Software will show how the delivery of location-aware information and content can enhance the overall user experience of Mobile Internet Devices. In addition to LBS functionality - ‘Where am I, What’s Near Me, Find Nearest, Get Me To’ - OEMs will also have the opportunity to expand the application’s geographical coverage to other regions. Today, Rough Guides Mobile delivers branded, trusted and rated travel content for more than 200 cities in 30 European countries. Additional functionality can also be brought to market through this application, such as user rating and reviews and geo-tagged photos of points of interest.

“The Mobile Internet Device category represents a significant growth opportunity for software vendors in the broader ecosystem,” said Pankaj Kedia, Director of Global Ecosystem Programs in the Ultra Mobility Group at Intel Corporation. “We welcome Creativity Software into the MID ecosystem and look forward to collaborating with them to enrich the availability of location based services and content for our customers and users.”
