Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, February 11th 2008 – ChargeBox®, the company behind the award-winning family of recharging stations for mobiles phones, PDAs and gaming handsets, today announced the release of ChargeBox® Lite, a free-to-use charge station which works at the push of a button.

“High degrees of mobile penetration, coupled with increasingly power hungry applications, colour screens, GPS and Bluetooth means we risk becoming the victim of the dreaded flat battery,” said Jane Young, Business Development Director. “ChargeBox sets out to rectify this scenario with a simple, elegant and secure system for publicly charging the devices we all carry today.”

The ChargeBox® Lite station incorporates secure lockers that provide rapid recharging of mobile phones, PSP, Nintendo DS, iPhone, Blackberry, iPod and PDAs. ChargeBox® Lite is ideal in workplace situations where staff have limited access to power points - for instance in supermarkets or warehouses. When not charging, the station consumes zero power, so is a tidy, environmentally friendly alternative to leaving hundreds of chargers plugged in and unused in the corporate or consumer environment.

With an LCD screen option, Chargebox® Lite offers significant branding and advertising opportunities to deliver point of sale messaging.

ChargeBox® stations can be found in entertainment venues, high street stores, airports, hotels and other convenient locations around the world delivering additional revenue generation, increased dwelltime, increased footfall and service differentiation. In addition, ChargeBox® is capable of replying to SMS payment texts with a location and/or network-specific message. This SMS integration extends brands wishing to establish measurable, closed loop connections with consumers, especially in the ‘lost’ 16-30 year old demographic.
