Errol Douglas will attend a ceremony at Buckingham Palace on February 13 to receive an MBE for services to hairdressing. Also collecting awards will be sports commentator Des Lynham and actor Roy Dotrice. The top stylist, whose Knightsbridge salon celebrates its 10th birthday this year, is among the cream of the hairdressing industry, and at just 43 years old has already won or been nominated for several of the world’s most coveted hairdressing awards. Says Errol: “It’s an amazing honour to be awarded the MBE, but I've received it for my industry, not for me personally. It gives inspiration to young hairdressers who want to get into the profession, and it furthers what I’m doing in my industry to raise its profile as a fantastic profession to work in. For me, it’s all about education, passing on what I know to the people I train, and helping young people to achieve their hairdressing career dreams.”

Errol joins industry peers Trevor Sorbie, Charles Worthington, Vidal Sassoon, Nicky Clarke and Daniel Galvin, who have all been awarded the honour. Errol is spokesperson for professional products company Matrix, for whom he regularly runs education seminars and shows both in the UK and abroad. Renowned for his stunning photographic work, Errol has been nominated eleven times for British Hairdresser of the Year, winner of the Afro category three times, overall AIPP Grand Trophy winner, the Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s Hairdresser of the Year, the Fellowship Gold Salon Consumer Award (2 consecutive years), Creative Head Media Darling of the Year and most recently the British Master Award at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards ceremony, and Black Beauty/Wahl’s Afro Hairdresser of the Year.

Errol’s more famous clients include the likes of Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci and Naomi Campbell. His hairdressing talents, professional approach and enormous personality make him the obvious choice for television, and appearances have included GMTV, This Morning, Good Morning, Model Behaviour, UK Living, G-Girls, 10 Years Younger, Queer Eye for a Straight Guy, Ready Steady Cook, The Weakest Link, Dial-a-mum, Extreme Makeover, Celebrity Scissorhands, plus many more consumer programmes.

The Errol Douglas salon is hailed as a fusion of European and Afro styling, and the salon’s innovative initiatives include services such as a nail technician, in-house catering service (serving everything from healthy food to delicious smoothies), express packages for swift styling (blow dry and manicure in 30 minutes) and more. With the 10th birthday comes the introduction of a fabulous new hair treatments area – watch this space for more exciting developments…

To attend the ceremony, please get in touch no later than 9am on Tuesday February 12.
