London – February 20 2008 – itlab, the UK’s fastest growing SME IT services company has been awarded one star at the prestigious Best Companies Awards 2008. 650 companies from across the UK entered the awards, which were held over the last three months. Best Companies survey every part of a company from the management team, through to culture and reward systems at UK companies. However, most importantly, 90% of the score is based on employee feedback surveys.

Of the eight factors which are key to creating a great workplace, itlab’s highest ranking factor was ‘My Company’ which focuses on how much people value their company, how proud they are to work there and whether they make a difference. Two key points were highlighted from the itlab analysis after the surveys had been completed – I believe I can make a valuable contribution to the success of this organisation and my work is an important part of my life. Both points are an important part of itlab’s philosophy of Service Obesssion™.

Dominic Monkhouse, managing director, itlab, comments: “This is our second year of entering the Best Companies Place to Work and so we are delighted to have retained our one star award. We have decided to review all the processes and procedures that affect each of our employee’s experiences with us during 2008. For us it’s about learning from our mistakes and then improving all the processes. Winning one star is recognition of our employees’ commitment to itlab and we hope to continue to develop and deliver a rewarding workplace every single day, after all happy staff equals happy customers.”

The Best Companies awards aim to identify and recognise organisations operating in the UK that are industry leaders. The awards also help organisations identify their strengths and weaknesses whilst providing benchmarks and guidance to help organisations improve performance.
