…GoldenGate and ITD implement GoldenGate Live Reporting to support Yapı Kredi’s query and reporting requirements…

20 February 2008 — GoldenGate Software Inc. (www.goldengate.com), a leading provider of high availability and real-time data integration solutions, today announced that Yapı Kredi (www.yapikredi.com.tr), one of the leading commercial and retail banks in Turkey, has implemented the GoldenGate live reporting solution with local partner ITD. Yapı Kredi is using the GoldenGate® solutions to manage its high volumes of transactional data, moving it in real-time to a secondary dedicated environment used to support all of its query and reporting requirements. Established in 1944 as Turkey’s first nationwide privately-held bank, Yapı Kredi is today the fourth largest private bank in the country.

With over 13 million customers and more than 670 branches throughout the country, it has always been a major priority for Yapı Kredi to run IT operations in the most effective way possible, in order to better serve its growing customer community and to better understand its customer base in order to offer relevant add-on products and services.

To gain access to the growing volume of customer information which the bank collects, batch processing approaches such as ETL (extract, transform and load) simply do not work. The latency of reports, such as end of day reports and data warehouse reports and queries needed to be much more up–to-date in order to best serve internal reporting and decision making requirements. Before implementing the GoldenGate live reporting solution, it was commonplace to run queries and reports against a production, OLTP or other business-critical system, rather than wait for the next batch process to run. This practice created processing demands that caused performance degradation to the source system. As more queries hit the primary database running on Sun Solaris with Oracle as source and target, performance continued to rapidly decline and transaction processing was compromised. As such, Yapı Kredi experienced costly latencies during the reporting process, because of the nightly and end-of-month batch process.
