Peter House, Manchester – The First Stop For New Companies Wednesday 20 February 2008 PDF Print •Stonemartin lets over 2,000 ft2 of its Manchester building to Arista Insurance, Mills and Reeve and Total Project Integration – all of which are opening new regional offices in the city Manchester, UK, 20th February 2008: Stonemartin, premier provider of managed space offices, has signed deals with commercial insurance provider, Arista Insurance, leading UK law firm, Mills and Reeve, and project management and construction cost consultancy, Total Project Integration - letting a total of 2,031 ft2 of space in its building, Peter House, in the city centre of Manchester. Arista Insurance has taken a twelve month lease for a 873 ft2 office, with an additional meeting room for client meetings, and moved into the building in January. Mills and Reeve has let 845 ft2 for its 12 staff and moved in at the beginning February and Total Project Integration has let 313 ft2 and moved its four new staff into the building in January. Interestingly, all the companies are new to the area, demonstrating Manchester’s growing importance to the corporate world as more organisations look to the regions to compete for a larger share of the market. This is no surprise when you consider the fact that Manchester contributes 40 percent of the GVA (Gross Value Added) of the North West economy, which is the third largest economy in the UK – after London and the South East. Julie Pickford, General Manager for Peter House, elaborates: “We are seeing a lot of companies setting up new offices in the building and I think it reflects the wider trend of investment in Manchester. This is a really up and coming city and organisations are waking up to its potential in a big way. Business is at a stage now where you do not need to be based in London to be successful and the North is becoming increasingly strategic in this development and Peter House is perfectly placed to capitalise on this interest.” Arista Insurance is a commercial insurance provider specialising in property, liability and motor classes of business. Established in 2006, it is a young but growing organisation with sites in London, Bristol, Redhill and Southampton. This new office will be its first Northern presence, as Paul Dooley, Regional Manager North of England & Scotland, explains: “Manchester was a natural choice due to the size of its insurance market - Manchester is the UK’s strongest centre for insurance operations outside London and the Greater South East. We were specifically looking for a town centre location and managed services, as this is the model we have followed with our other offices. After receiving very positive feedback from MIDAS (Manchester’s Investment Agency) we came to look at Peter House and were very impressed with what we saw. The structure of our lease also allows for total flexibility as we expand and the team is highly responsive and professional.” Mills and Reeve is one of the country’s leading all-service law firms with 805 staff, including 84 partners, and it is also making its first move on the Manchester market. The company, which already operates in Birmingham, Cambridge, London and Norwich, has also opened a Leeds office to cover the North East, with the Manchester base to attract business in the North West. Total Project Integration is also expanding from its Southern base in Surrey through the opening of this new Manchester office. Its new Manchester office is headed up by construction professionals Paul Foster and Stuart Downes, who are hoping to strike up key alliances with the major developers in the North West to deliver landmark projects.
