New Firmware Boosts 3ware 9690SA SAS RAID Controller Performance by up to 40 Percent and Expands Support for SATA and SAS Drives in LSI Expander-based Enclosures

Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC) [NASDAQ-GS: AMCC], the worldwide channel leader in serial RAID storage, today announced a major firmware upgrade for its 3ware® 9690SA Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) RAID controller line. The new code drives up to a 40 percent performance increase and broadens third party SAS expander compatibility.

The new firmware compliments 3ware’s award-winning scalable StorSwitch® architecture by optimizing the RAID controller’s data path for enhanced performance. 3ware 9690SA SAS controllers are now compatible with a more comprehensive array of industry-leading storage products, including Supermicro Computer, Inc.’s (Nasdaq: SMCI) lines of 12- and 16-drive SAS/SATA storage chassis.
