Serco defines a new international standard for information management with the delivery of MoReq2 Thursday 6 March 2008 PDF Print Serco’s Consulting business announces the availability of the new European de facto standard for Electronic Records Management functionality – MoReq2. MoReq2 builds on the success of MoReq (Model Requirements for the Management of Electronic Records) which is the only widely used international standard for Electronic Records Management that is applicable to both the private and public sectors. Serco developed the new specification, which was produced at the request of the European Commission, in collaboration with the international software development and user community from over 30 countries. MoReq2 will enable international software suppliers to develop effective Electronic Records Management (ERM) and Electronic Document and Records Management (EDRM) solutions. The new standard will also help end user organisations to buy and specify ERM and EDRM systems cost effectively and will contribute to improving an organisation’s overall information management strategy. MoReq2 is an evolutionary development that maintains compatibility while introducing new functionality that reflects and supports recent developments in the wider information management environment. The Serco team, led by Director Marc Fresko, developed MoReq2 in partnership with imbus AG, a specialist German software testing company that is developing testing materials to ensure that commercial software products comply with the new standard. Later this year Serco will deliver the final component of MoReq2 that will for the first time, allow users of ERM software to migrate records between applications from different suppliers. Andrew White, Chief Executive of Serco Consulting said, “I am delighted that the MoReq2 specification is now fully available. It has been eagerly awaited throughout Europe, and our team and partners have worked hard to integrate all the elements that will make it valuable to international businesses and governments. It is a privilege to have been associated with this milestone initiative.” Ends NOTES FOR EDITORS: About Serco Serco Consulting is a division of Serco Group, the international service company.
