Trend Micro Mobile Security and InterScan Web Security Appliance Take Bronze in Mobile Security and Web Security.

Marlow, U.K. – April 14, 2008 – Trend Micro Incorporated (TSE: 4704), a global leader in Internet content security, announced today that Trend Micro™ Mobile Security and Trend Micro Interscan™ Web Security Appliance received Bronze awards in the Mobile Security and Web Security Gateway categories of SearchSecurity.com 2008 Readers’ Choice Awards.

According to SearchSecurity.com, users gave Trend Micro Mobile Security strong ratings for its flexible policy management capabilities and for its antimalware and data protection functionality. Users also liked the product’s new central management function. Trend Micro's InterScan Web Security Appliance received high marks for granular, flexible policy creation and enforcement, as well as for its ability to detect known Web-based threats.

“Trend Micro Mobile Security includes a wide variety of capabilities vital to enterprises while retaining the ease of use for which Trend Micro is known,” said SearchSecurity.com. “This combination gave Mobile Security the juice to win bronze.”

For Trend Micro InterScan Web Security Appliance, SearchSecurity.com cited three strong components of the product: reputation-based Web threat protection, enforced malware scanning, and the validation of Java applets and ActiveX components. “The product's reputation engine--and the feedback it receives from its vast network of customers--helps monitor domain registrations and allow the blocking of malicious content before it reaches the gateway,” said SearchSeucurity.com.

SearchSecurity.com editors also recognised Trend Micro Damage Cleanup Service, an add-on for InterScan Web Security Appliance and other select Trend Micro products, as an additional option to fully restore infected clients to full operational health. Damage Cleanup Service removes spyware, rootkits, worms, virus remnants and Trojans that can elude typical antivirus solutions.
The Information Security magazine and SearchSecurity.com 2008 Readers’ Choice Awards reflect extensive, in-depth discussions and interviews between TechTarget editors, security technology experts, and the TechTarget User Advisory board -- which is comprised of chief security officers from major US corporations -- to define the appropriate categories and criteria to encompass the most critical security technologies and functionality.

TechTarget then asks more than 1,600 information security executives and managers to assess and rate products they deploy within their organisations from a listing of more than 360 products. Based on their cumulative responses the judging panel selects Gold, Silver, and Bronze award winners within the product categories.

Information Security magazine and SearchSecurity.com editors used these scores to determine Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners for the industry's best security products.
