DID YOU KNOW … that knowing Cliff Richard’s real name could increase your appeal to the opposite sex? Monday 9 June 2008 PDF Print PARSHIP’s City Singles Quiz Night Thursday 19th June, London E1 Do you know Cliff Richard’s real name, the capital of Kazakhstan or what 'c' represents in e = mc2? Well, according to a new survey by PARSHIP, Europe’s largest online matchmaker, singles in search of love would do well to brush up on their trivia … When it comes to increasing your appeal to the opposite sex, a typical pub quiz – which exercises key mental and social skills – could be several times more effective than a workout at the gym. In PARSHIP’s survey of 1,000 single people, qualities such as skilled communication (88%), a sense of humour (79%), the ability to compromise (73%) and intelligence (73%) were all highly rated in a potential partner. However, physical qualities such as a well-toned physique (17%) and even a handsome or pretty face (46%) were considered of less importance. Dr Victoria Lukats, psychiatrist and PARSHIP’s dating expert commented: “When it comes to romance, chemistry is not just about looks – it has a lot to do with personality, sense of humour, interests and values. And in most cases, it's similar personality types that attract rather than opposites. We're often led to believe that image is somehow the key to relationship success but many singles would be better advised to improve their communication skills, develop interesting topics of conversation and learn how to have more fun.” This suggests that relationship antennae will be wagging wildly at PARSHIP’s City Singles Quiz Night on Thursday 19th June at The Puzzle, 98 Middlesex Street, London E1. This pioneering dating event will feature quiz rounds to stimulate singles’ brains and personalities. Ultimately, it could bring a new meaning to the phrase “pop the question”. Before the big night, guests will complete an online psychometric test devised by PARSHIP.co.uk. The information provided by the test will be used to match guests with each other. Guests will then be placed in teams of 8 people, split equally between men and women, before they prepare to do battle. Tony Blin-Stoyle, PARSHIP’s UK Director, commented: “This really could be a formula for romance, since playing on a quiz team requires a certain level of knowledge, a sense of humour – particularly when you get the questions wrong – and the ability to compromise; this is group activity, after all, and not Mastermind. If we see lots of huddling together, eye contact and laughter, then we’ll know the evening’s been a success.” Starting at 7pm, the City Singles Quiz Night will be the ideal evening for any singles who are ready to meet their match.
